What is Kurokawa Onsen?

Kurokawa onsen ( hot springs ) is a small onsen village in rich natural environment with 30 ryokans ( hotels ). Although it's far away from highway or station, a lot of people visit Kurokawa onsen every year. The whole village is like a big home. Each ryokan is as a relaxing room and every road a corridor. As a matter of fact, there is a onsen pass called "Nyuto tegata" with which you can take any ryokan's open-air onsen in Kurokawa Onsen village even though you stay other ryokan. This is one of the reason why Kutrokawa onsen is so special. Although the village is located deep in Kumamoto prefecture, it's highly reccomended to visit once in your life.

How to get to Kurokawa Onsen?

1. From Fukuoka international airport

From Fukuoka international airport to Hakata sta. for about 10 minutes by subway.
From Hakata sta. to Kurokawa onsen for 2 hours and 45 min. by an express bus.

2. From Kumamoto Station

There are 2 options to get to Kurokawa onsen from Kumamoto sta. One is by the express bus called " Kyushu-odan bus". It takes 3 hours to Kurokawa onsen from the station. The other option is to take local train. It takes nearly 3 hours with 3-time transfer. So we recommend to take an express bus to Kurokawa onsen.
